FAQS

HOW WILL COVID-19 AFFECT PRECIOUS BOND CLASSES?

Group classes will continue to run via video conference rather than face-to-face. This will enable you to benefit from all the need-to-know information while staying as safe as possible. The same content will be taught by the same teacher at the times advertised, and we can chat and talk through questions as if we were in the room together. 1:1 courses can be taught on Zoom or in person, whatever you feel most comfortable with.

In these uncertain and anxious times it's even more important than ever to be informed and to have tools you can use to help you relax and stay calm, so we're still here to help you at this special time of your life.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GO TO HYPNOBIRTHING CLASSES?

Any time after around 20 weeks of pregnancy is a great time to start Hypnobirthing classes. Hypnobirthing can help you throughout pregnancy so starting early can be really valuable, though it's never too late to benefit from Hypnobirthing so don't worry if you've only discovered it at the eleventh hour!

WHERE DO YOU TEACH THE CLASSES?

Our classes cover Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. We run group classes and taster sessions in Market Harborough at Home-Start South Leicestershire and Samyama Yoga Studio, and in Priors Hall Park Community Centre, Corby. Find out more here. The venues are easy to get to from surrounding towns and villages such as Market Harborough, Lubenham, East Farndon, Clipston, Husbands Bosworth, Lutterworth, Kibworth, Fleckney, Oadby, Desborough, Rothwell, Kettering, Corby, Weldon, Thrapston, Oundle, Oakham and Uppingham. If you are interested in a one-to-one private course we will come to you to teach you in the comfort of your own home, ideal especially if you already have little ones.

WHAT DO THE CLASSES COVER AND HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?

You can find prices and see what each of the class types covers here.

DOES MY PARTNER NEED TO COME TO THE CLASSES?

It's completely up to you. Our classes are a lovely time for mums-to-be to relax and bond with their babies, so you're very welcome to come on your own and enjoy some time for yourself.

However, hypnobirthing really values the role of fathers / birth partners so we welcome and encourage them to join you if they can make it. Most fathers arrive at the course utterly sceptical and leave extremely enthusiastic. A hypnobirthing father is knowledgeable and able to support his partner as she gives birth. He is a huge asset in the birthing room, and he knows he has played an important part in how his baby enters the world. This deepens their relationship as a couple, and his relationship with his child.

SHOULD I ATTEND HYPNOBIRTHING CLASSES AS WELL AS OR INSTEAD OF ANTENATAL CLASSES?

Hypnobirthing doesn't just teach relaxation and breathing techniques to use in labour, it is a complete antenatal training programme which covers how your body works during labour, what to expect, positions for birth, the role of the father / birth partner and helps you to release fears and build confidence about birth. It works well as a standalone course, but equally complements other antenatal courses such as NCT.

I'VE BEEN TOLD I'LL NEED TO HAVE A CAESAREAN, IS HYPNOBIRTHING RIGHT FOR ME?

Absolutely. Hypnobirthing is all about achieving the birth that is right for you and your baby. It helps you release any fears you may have and teaches you how to enter a state of deep relaxation, something that can be really important for a caesarean birth, especially if you've had complications in pregnancy or previous birth experiences.

I'M REALLY SCARED ABOUT GIVING BIRTH - CAN HYPNOBIRTHING HELP ME OVERCOME MY FEARS?

Hypnobirthing is one of the most effective ways you can overcome your fears about giving birth. It's even more important if you have fears that stem from previous experiences, and women with tocophobia (fear of childbirth) have found Hypnobirthing has especially helped them; read our birth stories to find out more.

Hypnobirthing builds your confidence, teaches you to achieve deep relaxation, and uses elements of hypnosis to re-program your subconscious to think positively about birth and look forward to the day you meet your baby.

THIS ISN'T MY FIRST BABY, WILL I LEARN ANYTHING NEW FROM HYPNOBIRTHING CLASSES?

Absolutely. So many women are amazed at just how much valuable information they learnt on a KG Hypnobirthing course about how their body works during labour and the options open to them that they wished they'd known the first time around. After attending a course they feel much more prepared to make informed decisions about their birth as well as having invaluable relaxation techniques at their fingertips.

Hypnobirthing can also help change your perspective on birth and help you deal with any negative previous experiences. Using hypnosis, it helps to re-program your subconscious to release fears, build confidence and think positively about birth.
